Sri Lanka defeated Australia by 12 runs in the Super Six match of the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup match held at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia on Wednesday, January 29. (More Cricket News)

Sri Lanka women opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted 99/8 on the board in 20 overs. Opener batters Sanjana Kavindi (19) and Sumudu Nisansala (18) were the top scorers from the Lankan side.

Lily Bassingthwaighte took three wickets by conceding just seven runs with a maiden in four overs. Hasrat Gill and Tejan Williamson also picked a couple of wickets each.

In response, Australia started well but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the ned, they could only make 87/8 in 20 overs, hence, lost the match by 12 runs.

Australia gave 18 runs in extra whereas Sri Lanka conceded only two runs in extra which was the defining factor between the loss and win for both teams.
