MANILA, Philippines — Palace has named Vivencio “Vince” Bringas Dizon as the new secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) effective February 21.

This was confirmed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin in a Viber message to reporters on Thursday.

“He is already authorized by the Office of the President to start the transition at the DOTr in coordination with the team of Secretary Jaime Bautista, who has resigned due to health reasons,” Bersamin also said.

This measure is important as the country remains on the radar of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) for fraudulent medical products, said GS1 Philippines, the leading organization for implementing local barcode standards.

The Japanese Embassy in Manila provided the grant to the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., which will lead the capacity-building programs for beneficiary farmers.

Dizon is an economist and consultant who previously served as president of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
